BIOGRAPHY

MCFM formed in 2000 and have been playing extensivly through out Melbourne (& a little gig in Sydney).  Members include Lead Guitarist, Mel Schmidt, former member of Litany (Hecate), who has toured the US, supported artists such as Hole, The Offspring, and Sinead O'Connor, and has performed at various festivals including Lilith Fair in USA; Bassist, Lisa Bartolomei, former member of Tuff Muff, who has supported bands such as Magic Dirt, Bikini Kill, and Spiderbait; Drummer, Mark Grondman, who has been playing music since he was five years old and is currently also a member of "Kids in Cults";  Vocalist, Deirdre Breuning. 

Together they produce a sound best described as a mercurial mix of gutsy throbbing guitar and driving rhythm section, complimented by evocative lyrics that exude attitude and fortitude.  Influenced by an assortment of tastes, MCFM’s inspirations ranging from Black Sabbath to Foo Fighters and Veruca Salt to The Datsuns.  

Over the years, MCFM have had some great success in the Melbourne live music scene, steadily building their performance experience and an ever-enthusiastic fan base. 

They have played support for CYNDI LAUPER  at the Melbourne Concert Hall & the Sydney State Theater on her "LIVE...AT LAST" tour & at many of Melbourne’s live music venues including The Tote, The Esplanade, The Corner Hotel, Green Room, Arthouse, Pony Bar, and 'Rock In the Park 2003' at Dan O'Connell, supporting great artistes such as Remake Remodel (ex Porcelain), Screamfeeder, Warped, Origami, Dallas Crane, The Belters (Japan), The Aampirellas, and more.    MCFM have also appeared as guests on 3CR radio show, ‘Bitterness Barbie’, played live-to-air on 'Girly is Good', and have received radio play of their four demo tracks.  They have headlined at various events during the 2003 Melbourne Ladyfest and were selected to perform in the Australian Music Week showcase in February 2004.   

MCFM’s song, ‘Oxygen Masks’, was announced as the winner in the Rock/Pop category of the 2004 Australian Music Week Song Competition.  'Oxygen Masks' was also selected as track number 1 on an industry compilation cd, 'Longneck 2003', put out by Sixpack Records.  ‘Sister’s in Love’ was also featured on the Ladyfest 2003 compilation cd.   

MCFM are currently completing their debut EP.  In the meantime, they continue to blow fans and punters away with their entire live show, which includes sensational music, awesome stage presence and even dancers.  A show worth seeing and a night worth having!!
